Pushing the Limits with a Portable Dive Habitat

The deep reefs (those below about 150 feet) are a relatively unexplored zone, with huge diversity of sealife, much of which is still unexplored and undocumented. We did an expedition to Cocos Island, Costa Rica last year to test new filming techniques and explore the Everest seamount and other deep reefs. It was clear how incredible these areas are. Depth poses a serious limitation when scuba diving however, as decompression time increases with increased depth and time at depth. Nat Geo explorer Mike Lombardi has come up with a pretty cool way to deal with this.

We love ingenuity in the name of exploration and furthering knowledge.
