The Waterman’s Wall

Despite the occasional rain drop, the ocean tribe gathered in downtown Laguna to see the unveiling of the Waterman's Wall. Who in this crowd is afraid to get wet? The mural, created by Randy Morgan, depicts many of the figures in the Laguna Beach ocean scene: former Chief of Marine Safety Mark Klosterman, winner of the 1975 Duke Kahanomku Invitational Surf contest Ian Cairns, co-founder of MacGillivray Freeman Films, Jim Freeman, and many others.

Here it is folks!

These guys have made a lot of great movies together. Long time Laguna locals Greg MacGillivray with musical maestro Steve Wood.

Greg was a major donor to the project, and his message is this: public art is important to keeping Laguna the special place it is. We need more landmarks like this. Plus, they make our property values go up!

The proud artist with his work: Randy Morgan.

Events like this are often de facto family reunions in the surfing world. Living legend and featured surfer in many a MacGillivray Freeman film, Mickey Muñoz gets a pat on the back form his old friend Steve Wood.

Laguna local Mike Marriner, with the latest addition to the local scene: Alia.
